Game Idea 1

Two Opposites - by makra

Description

Two Opposites is a game where the player controls two different character that are supposedly separated by a mirror. These two players have the opposite movement to one another and the player must navigate through a darkened room to find the exit for "both" of the players. As the player navigates through the levels they get progressively harder with new mechanics like switches which both of the character need to stand on at the same time and walls which kill one of the characters if colliding with. The music in the game is very relaxing and the overall feel of the game is very earie. The game may not have the most complicated design but the gameplay feels very polished because of being simple and refined.

Target Audience

The target audience seems to be mainly focused on puzzle lovers. This game can be very frustrating for those with little patience like myself when I've spent a long time lining up my characters just to run one of them into a spiked wall. This game can be played at all ages.

Goal

The game itself fits perfectly into the theme so little tweaking in that area would be needed. The main thing I believe the team should be focusing on is keeping the original idea but building on this. We should add a variety of different mechanics, change the theme to something original to us, improve the animations and maybe even add local multiplayer options so there could be 4 players to control.

Game Idea 2

You are now Possessed - by Lonebot

Description

You are now Possessed is a game where to player is set on a grid environment. The player must traverse the grid and make it to a guitar which completes the level. The most interesting mechanic which sparked a lot of different ideas of different games that could be made from this concept is every now and then the player gets "possessed" and moves the player in a predetermined direction. This makes getting to the guitar a harder task as when the player is possessed he can fall of the edge of the grid world and die. In later levels the player needs to gain keys to unlock an object blocking the way to the guitar. Urns are also scattered around the world which the player can push around to block himself from falling off the edge. Cactus are on levels and if the player collides with them the player dies. Finally there are enemies which move around the grid which kill the player when collided with.

Target Audience

This game is able to be played at any ages as there isn't really anything that is scary or gruesome. This is yet another puzzle game but less frustrating than the first. This mainly caters for the puzzlers out the but can be enjoyed by mostly anyone.

Goal

The game itself does not fit the Unexpectedly Opposite theme but it sparks a few ideas which could be adapted into a concept that fits. Controlling a player in which could randomly become "possessed" during playing the game could be a concept worth exploring. This could be introduced in to a platformer or even a top down type game where the player randomly gets possessed and does a predetermined movement might be a mechanic to utilize.
