Week 1 Self Study


For my blender week 1 self study task I chose to model the Wrest Point Casino. This building structure I also saw as when created I would be able to use the same techniques that were used in the Brackey's Tutorial to consolidate what I had learned from them. 

My first step was to create a cylinder and create the basic shape of the casino. I extruded the top into a similar shape as the original casino. To limit the work I had to do when adding the vertical rectangles and making the windows I split the cylinder into a quarter. I then used the mirror function on the X and Z planes. This way I only needed to do a quarter of the work required to make a full cylinder worth of windows and pillars. I then selected the whole object, gave it a cream looking colour which does not look similar to the original but as close as I could get. Finally I switched to edge selection to assign a black colour to the inside of the windows to give a better feel of depth.
